Just wanted to share a wedding update with you all as I know so many of you are affected during this time and so many of you are struggling changing your own wedding plans as well. We appreciate everyone following along on this journey for the past nine months and it is so crazy to be writing this, but Joel and I have postpone our June 28th wedding until next summer. We made the decision a few weeks ago after hearing more news on the Canadian borders being closed and due to the fact that Massachusetts is still closed down. We have been speaking with our venue every since everything first hit and after speaking with them again about 3 weeks ago they advised that she didn’t believe that June weddings would be going through. Since then the news we are hearing has only solidified our decision and made us feel at peace with moving forward for next summer.
What now…
Get a plan B date if you haven’t already! See if your venue will let you pick another back up date if you are not ready to postpone.
Invitations: Ok, so we already mailed out our invitations and basically before they even got to our friends and family in Canada we had decided to postpone. Ugh! We had them all printed and waited until the last possible minute to send them out so we decided to send them and then only a few weeks later postpone. We will not be sending out invitations again rather we will be sending out a postponement card like THIS and possibly a sticker for the original invite. We are still deciding weather we will send out RSVP cards once next spring hits or have guest RSVP on our wedding website.
Talk to your vendors immediately! Our videographers are taken for our date next summer and our photographer already had the date on hold for another couple. Luckily the other couple decided on another date and our photographer was able to secure us for next summer. We rearranged and talked to our DJ, musicians for the ceremony, ceremony location and our officiant.
If you all are going through the same thing I know it is going to be such a hard decision to come to terms with, but in the end it is something that is out of our hands. It took us a little while to feel ok and I know that June 28th is going to be a hard date for us, but we will celebrate and look forward now to next summer. I know Anne and Matt are dealing with making a decision on their August wedding within the next few weeks. Their venue is not allowing them to pick a plan B date yet. We are so lucky to have each other through this process to lean on.
I never shared our invitations from Minted and I’m so obsessed with how they came out! All details are linked under each image! They are so great to work with and made all edits for the RSVP card at no cost and caught a few errors when they reviewed it! We were assigned one person that works with us, made the changes and got back to us all in the same day we placed the order!
