What an amazing and unforgettable weekend! As many of you may have seen over on Instagram this weekend my long time boyfriend Joel and I (Kate) got engaged!! Joel and I have dated for almost seven years after meeting in College my freshman year, Joel’s junior year, at UMass Amherst. Every since that first night I knew he was the one and this weekend at the Truro Winery on the Cape- (one of my favorite places!) Joel got down on one knee!
Starting off the day was seriously just like any other day nothing different or out of the ordinary. I always thought that the day we would get engaged I would know if something was up! Joel always jokes that nothing gets by me. We were making our way down to the cape for an event at our favorite winery that evening and of course we were running late. Anne had flew in early that morning and we were rushing to get dressed. I was joking with her after I had no idea because she didn’t help me with my outfit and I had no idea what to wear. Joel on the other hand kept asking what the plan was this weekend and “kept forgetting” what Friday’s plan was. We got to the Winery Anne, Joel, my mom, aunt and I and did our a wine tasting then right after went to take pics for Pines & Palms! Joel was taking the two of us and Anne kept insisting that we got a really good picture down one of the isles last time. If you all know us you know that going to the winery is a weekly event sometimes twice a weekend. So we made our way down the grape vine isle of the vineyard Joel taking our pic then Anne switching to take Joel and my pic- nothing out of the ordinary still. Anne & Joel didn’t whisper or give a look to each other at all throughout the whole day. Just as Anne was about to take our pic Joel turned to me and said the sweetest words (his voice shaking) and then got down on one knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring (details below). Everything and more I could have ever imagined!!
We celebrated right after with more family that met us not knowing what had just happened! Grace and the babies arrived the next day as well as my brother, my nieces and dad all the next morning! I loved hearing all the details that went in to this day like what he was feeling and the story of Joel asking permission to my parents (I love this tradition) and reliving this day over and over again.
I can’t wait to share this journey with you all as well! I will be sharing weekly wedding updates throughout the weeks, but for now we are definitely enjoying engaged life! So excited to take on this next chapter with my best friend!
The Ring
Omg this ring I could stare at it all day! Even Joel will take my hand to stare! It is so beautiful, I can’t wait to wear it forever! ๐ It is from Barmakian Jeweler, a family owned and operated jeweler and one of the largest purveyors of diamonds in Massachusetts & New Hampshire. They have three large locations in Framingham, Boston and Nashua New Hampshire. What makes it even more special, is that it is that place where my entire family from my grandma and great aunts to my mom, aunts and sisters have gone to their entire lives. Even Grace’s beautiful ring is from Barmakian’s as well! I can’t thank Barmakian enough for everything they did to make this day so special and something we will both never forget! From their beautiful craftsmanship to how they treat you like family it was truly nothing short of an amazing experience.
