Tybee/Savannah
It was our first family trip with baby Charlotte and she did so well! We rented an Air B and B in Tybee Island, which is a small island off the coast of Savannah, GA. I loved the time of year we went because it didn’t seem to be super busy. Also having a house allowed us to cook a lot and get take out, which works great for the kids! We were walking distance from the beach which was another plus. My husband bought this beach wagon it was actually the greatest thing! Also this tent worked for us! On the way to Charleston from Tybee we stopped in Savannah. We hadn’t been there since we got engaged. We just spent a few hours on River Street at the candy store and did lunch at Boars Head. It was about a 2 hour drive to Charleston where we spent the rest of the week.
Charleston
I love Charleston so much. I honestly could live there or outside in Mount Pleasant, a cute family friendly neighborhood! I do wish we went to Charleston in the beginning of the trip because it was not as relaxing as the beach. It was a little tough with three kids in a hotel! We did get a larger room, but anything in the city is small. Some attractions and things we did are listed below. We stayed at the Embassy Suites right downtown we had breakfast at the hotel (buffet) and typically made lunches at the hotel but did dinner out and had no problem taking the kids! I have to say the real MVP of the trip was the baby carrier. We also used this double stroller. We brought the Valco triple stroller also but didn’t use it too much. Just for a couple ice cream walks in Tybee Island. A heads up that most of the stores closed around 6. It was a little disappointing but still managed to do some shopping.
- Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie – The boys loved walking the battle field and seeing canons. This was in Tybee, well towards Savanah
- Boone Hall Plantation– there are several plantation tours, we chose this one because it had a tractor ride. They have a huge Halloween set up if you plan on going soon!
- South Carolina Aquarium- This is walking distance from downtown. The boys loved the sharks!
- Coast bar and grille – We had a great seat outside!
- Delany’s oyster bar– Was a little on the fancy side but the kids did great and we were able to eat on the outside patio.
- The last night we did a combo of takeout- pizza, salad and sea food as we walked King Street!
- Also be sure to check out the Charleston Market . I came home with a sweet grass basket.
- King Street is your shopping spot! Be sure to check out Kids on Kings, Madewell, Lululemon, Jcrew, and a bunch of cute stores I can’t remember ! I didnt have much time to shop!
