Love hearing from so many of you that you visit the Cape often or are planning a visit! Cape Cod is such a family friendly destination filled with some of the best beaches in the U.S. and most beautiful surroundings. We often get asked what some of our must visit activities are! Sharing a quick list below! Let us know if we are missing anything!
What to know: The cape is not the easiest to drive too or around and it depends where are the Cape you are located, but it is definitely worth the commute. If you are flying, most likely you’ll fly into Boston and have to rent a car and drive probably 1-1.5 hours (depending on what part of the cape you are visiting.) The best way to get town to town would be driving- some smaller towns Ubers would be hard in. Also, avoid being too far away from home at night, the roads get super dark! We mostly head up to the upper Cape, but there is so much to do all over!
Pro tip: Leave early to avoid traffic of course and stop @ the Sagamore bridge for Mary-Lous coffee!
Top things to do:
- Eastham: Arnold’s Lobster & Clam bar (best fried seafood!) the Hole in One donuts, beaches, Red Barn pizza and arcade, bike trail goes all throughout the cape!
- Orleans: Brewery, also another Hole In One coffee shop & The Knack for the best burger!
- Downtown Harwich/ Harwich port: The Port restaurant, Ember Pizza, also a cute little beer and coffee shop right on the Main Street +Main Street shops!
- Chatham– Squire bar, cutest little shops on historic Main Street, Chatham Bars Inn for drinks
- Welfleet: The Pearl restaurant- right on the harbor, brewery, Beachcomber- one of the few places you can be on the beach and head up for food and drinks!
- Truro Winery- of course our favorite for wine tastings and sangria slush!
- ProvinceTown– tip of the cape
- Hyannis– Cape Cod chip factory, The only mall on the Cape, your go-to place when you need anything! I’d say this to me feels more touristy because there is so many stores and hotels, but they just added a Target & Chick Fil A not too long ago!
- Osterville: definitely a hidden gem, I’ve been here once and love the old Main Street and quiet exclusive feel.
Beaches:
- Nauset Light beach- Eastham, MA
- Coast Guard Beach- Eastham, MA (shuttle service provided)
- Marconi Beach- Welfleet
- Chatham Light Beach
Pro tip: Sunrise @ the Ocean and sunset @ the bay and the harbors!
Day trip ideas:
- Take the ferry from Falmouth or Hyannis to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket!
