As many of you know, but for those new followers, I moved to Arizona this past November to be with my boyfriend of over 5 years! We were in college two years together then after that we did long distance for just over 3 years! It was so crazy we both felt like we never saw each other! I “moved” for the hockey season, as you all will see now I’m home in Massachusetts for the summer! Joel’s season just ended after an amazing year and making it to the second round of playoffs!
Even more exciting we just bought a house in Massachusetts! Can not wait to share a bunch of home reno and DIY with you all. While Joel was away still playing, my family and I have been handling the reno completely and to say the least it has been exhausting, but so exciting! We are getting hard wood floors installed throughout the entire house this week! I can not wait to see the finished product!
Back to my time in AZ (aka first big life change)
It was a lot of firsts to get through…
- Like traveling to Arizona
- and leaving my family- we were 1.5 hours away from our hometown in college and Anne and I went to school together so we were never alone!
- This may sound crazy, but doing things alone!! I have been so fortunate to be with Anne and to have someone to do legit everything with! Like going to the grocery store with or the mall or even coffee LOL the most we have been apart before this would have been a week! With Joel’s travel schedule it was something I definitely had to grow and learn to deal with.
The fun stuff…
- Being there to see Joel’s games! It’s so awesome being there for the games and through the ups and downs. I missed a lot of the past 2 seasons and it was just one of those things that if I didn’t make the move I would have regretted it because these days don’t last forever!
- Seeing a new place!! There is so much out there and it was one of the coolest experiences getting to live in a completely different place and really take it all in! We traveled mostly between Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson throughout the season.
- Being in 75-90 degree weather all fall & winter! I did love the snow around XMAS time back home though ๐
- Making new friends! So thankful for all the friendships both Joel and I make throughout the seasons, it makes being away from home that much better when you have people going through the same thing.
