If you’ve been following you know that we went to Disney World last week and were all reunited in the most magical place! Kate and I flew in to meet my parents and Grace and the babies drove in from Atlanta mid week! Wishing our brother and his family could have come, but baby Mia, our new niece, is only 2 months!
We were all so lucky to grow up spending our school vacations in Disney World all together. Our parents have been Disney Vacation Club members for the past 25 years. So crazy to think that we grew up going and now we getting married and get to experience with our kids, nieces and nephews <3 Check out our blog on more DVC resorts and perks HERE
The weather was absolutely amazing, we got really lucky! Towards the end of the week when the weather was colder, we scheduled a character breakfast buffet at Chef Mickey (in the Contemporary) and OMG it was amazing!
A few things to know:
- Park passes: We did 4 parks in one day! Kate, my parents and I. We haven’t been able to do that in years! It definitely wouldn’t have been possible with the kids, but we always try and do atleast 2-3 parks a day. The park hopper is definitely the way to go! Since the lines were so crazy we just jumped from park to park to see our favorite things.
- 8-10am Hollywood Studios
- 10:30am- 1pm Animal Kingdom
- 1:30pm- 4:30pm Magic Kingdom
- 5:15pm- 8:30pm Epcot – dinner in England & drinks in France!
- Fast Passes: must-have!! You can get them scheduled 30-60 days prior! I suggest setting a date you plan on going to the park and getting fast passes (we usually just let the weather dictate when we go, but the lines were crazy! Also, keep checking throughout the day for fast passes, some open up. I got really lucky with this!
- STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance – sold out within 30 seconds! Once the park opens you must be in the park – open the Disney World app – and enter the ‘boarding group’ if you aren’t in line by 6am and one of the first ones in you won’t get in a ‘boarding group’
- New additions: Toy Story Land – Slinky Dog Dash (get there early!) & Toy Story Mania so fun! Pandora in AK makes you feel like you are actually there. The line for Flight of Passage was 4 hours, of course we didn’t wait this time, but OMG this ride is unreal! Na’vi river ride is so cool, but not worth a wait over 90 min.
- Resorts – A lot of times people that aren’t familiar with Disney think it’s just about the parks, but the resorts make the trip! Grab a re-fillable mug for $20 and relax by the pool. Saratoga Springs, The Boardwalk, The Yacht & Beach Club, Newly renovated Old Key West are some of our favorites.
- Wear comfortable shoes. After 4 parks in 1 day I seriously couldn’t walk by the end of night. I have very sensitive arches and the sneakers I had on should really only be worn half the day. (I should have known!!) These are my favorite, Grace loves THESE ones, and need these white sneakers for the next trip!
- Affordable bathing suits! Still look cute and no worries about ruining it in the hot tub and when you go down the slide! ๐ See below
- Disney Transportation. If you are staying at a Disney resort take advantage of the transportation. The Magical Express [airport transportation to and from], the newest Disney transportation The Skyliner [we took this so much, it’s so convenient] The buses to and from the parks and Disney Springs. When we wanted to get to the Boardwalk with took the bus to Hollywood Studios and Skyliner over to Epcot/Boardwalk
- Places to eat: We did one buffet for the characters at Chef Mickey – highly recommend!
- Disney Springs: Quick – D-Luxe, Earl of Sandwich, Blaze Pizza // Sit-down – The Boathouse, Frontera Cocina, Paddle Fish
- The Boardwalk: Big River Grille (micro brewery), Trattoria al Forno (you can sit down at the restaurant or order pizza from the window!
- Epcot – You can’t go wrong with any of the places here! I love Mexico, Fish & chips in England, Italy
- Outfit planning. Pack clothes that look good with white sneakers! Love these inexpensive ones for walking around too! Mickey and Minnie gear – don’t be afraid to go overboard ๐ It is the most magical place in the world and trust us everyone has their gear on! Just got these ears and these for Matt lol! We all used this backpack all week. Love this Minnie gear for the girls and this tee for the guys
The Disney Princess 10K was so much fun! We did it last year too, but this year was even more special running with Grace (and on her 35th birthday too!) If you are thinking about signing up for one don’t hesitate! The 10Ks will sell out in the first few hours, but the half will stay around for a little. We loved setting a goal and have this to work towards every day! Disney makes it easy too, there is transportation to and from the run for you and anyone wanting to cheer you on! It is truly magically. The staff, volunteers, Disney music throughout parks, and characters along the way make it so enjoyable! I felt like I could have kept running for hours ๐
