I’m so excited to share all the details about our drive-by shower this past Sunday. Matt and I (Anne) can’t even put into words how amazing it was! We felt so loved and blessed to share in this special day with our family and friends. In a time where everything has been so down and negative, it was so nice to laugh, smile and see family and friends (even if it was from a far). It was such a truly such a special day and one that we will always cherish.
Since my shower was originally planned for March 21, we decided that a drive-by shower might be the perfect thing for a time like this. And it was! Everyone had so much fun and couldn’t get over all the set up (I still can’t either!)
(all pictures below)
How it worked:
- Kate and my mom sent out e-vites a week before the drive-by shower to family and friends that were invited to my original shower. Local family and friends RSVP’d and let Kate and my mom know if they were going to drive-by, our out of town family and one of my college BFFs & bridesmaid joined Zoom and watched for 2 hours!
- Guests had between 9am-11am to drive-by. My mom, aunt and Kate had masks on when they were interacting with our guests and we used ‘grabbers’ to hand them their favors and to get any cards/ gifts. Also, some guests place their gifts the rug (see picture) while we stayed 6 feet away.
- Guests drove up (mostly waiting in a line) and talked with us for a few minutes. If they had brought a gift, I sat in the chair and opened it so they could still see like a normal shower! It was so perfect!
- I also love that the guys got to be there. Matt, my dad, Joel and Buddy (from a far) it was so nice getting to all spend time together and for Matt to see family, friends and see what a shower is like.
Favors:
- My mom and Kate had customize champagne flutes + a little mini bottle of sparkling rosรฉ (with custom labels on it) Kate spent hours on the Cricut machine making them!
- The Gingerbread Construction Company, Gingerbread & Chocolate Dream muffins, individually packaged.
- Perfecto’s individually wrapped bagels + a cooler outside with mini cream cheeses
- $5 Dunkin’ Donuts cards (since we couldn’t provide coffee, we wanted to treat them to one!)
- All were packaged in customized bags (with gloves on and passed to their car window with grabbers)
Decor:
- Greenery wall – These are the exact ones we ordered. Kate and I pieced together each boxwood sheet by securing it with zip ties and rope. We knew that now would be a great time to get it and put it together because of both of wedding and showers, we would get so much use out of it. One thing to note is there is no easy way or directions on getting this wall up. We use two different techniques; at Kate’s shower we hung it up with THIS and at my shower, Buddy made the stand (he is really good at building & has all the tools)
- Cricut – this came in handy for all the signs & favors
- Bar Cart
- Balloon arch (we used for Kate’s shower too) SO easy! Ring, Mr & Mrs // use this balloon pump
- Chairs, little table, outdoor rug ( we got from Ocean State Job lot, but here is a similar one & table cloth

Unforgettable
Overall our drive-by shower was unforgettable. Even thought it wasn’t the traditional bridal shower, it was even better because during a time like this it brought so much joy and happiness to everyone. It wasn’t about the presents, it was so much more about the seeing smiling faces and laughing with family and friends and remembering that we will all get through this together. I can’t thank my mom, Kate and entire family enough for all the work they put into making it so special. Early mornings and late nights, every detail blew me and everyone away. Buddy, our brother, even built the greenery stand for us at 10pm Saturday night, which amazing! If you are even thinking about it for your friends or family, do it! You will not regret it!! We still can’t stop talking about it ๐
